e-commerce event

“Birmingham seems to be a much closer-knit community that has a wealth of knowledge and talent in the tech world. I love being able to connect with those who are incredible at what they do and make a real difference.”

Steve Hooper is the Managing Director and Chief Trainer at SiteGeek, a digital marketing training consultancy. SiteGeek works in the e-commerce area, helping companies understand the need for a structured approach to their marketing. Steve has over 25 years of experience in the digital space and designed his first website back in 1995. He has overseen the development of marketing campaigns that have produced hundreds of millions of pounds. Now he’s bringing his expertise to Birmingham Tech Week.

Steve got into the tech world through his very first job. He started out in a marketing company, and his boss sent him out to get a modem so that they could access the internet. A self-proclaimed ‘geek’ (hence the name of the business!), Steve has a passion for making tech and marketing work together.

We spoke to Steve about what to expect from his Tech Week event ‘Build an E-Commerce Eco System That Provides a Killer Customer Journey.’ Plus, why he loves the Birmingham Tech space so much.

What can we expect from your event?

A focus on the e-commerce ecosystem, a method of bringing all of your customer contacts, methods of promotion and aftercare into one easy to follow structure. It gives your customer a full experience and not just a ‘Thanks for buying… now off you pop!’ We see companies that live in the field of dreams method of promoting their e-commerce stores, “If we build it they will come!” It just doesn’t work. The E-commerce Ecosystem works around a structured customer journey with huge opportunity for increasing the customer lifetime value, reduce refunds and grow the business to a whole new level.

What are you most looking forward to about your Tech Week event, and who would benefit from it?

I love teaching, knowing we have given people that ‘Ah-Ha!’ moment that will mean the difference between their business staying where it is and growing to a whole new level.

Entrepreneurs, business owners, marketing managers, sales managers, CEO’s, managing directors and e-commerce managers would all benefit from knowing the structure we have implemented. We’ve taught it to so many companies that have seen success!

What excites you about the Birmingham Tech space?

I’m originally from London and the message in London gets lost in huge International network events. Birmingham seems to be a much closer-knit community that has a wealth of knowledge and talent in the tech world. I love being able to connect with those who are incredible at what they do and make a real difference. Tech Week really does raise the profile of the City and the amazing companies and individuals that are in it.

‘Build an E-Commerce Eco System That Provides a Killer Customer Journey’ is taking place on Thursday 15th October at 10:15am. Click here to sign up (it’s totally free!)
